Falcons Fanatics: Anticipation in Atlanta

With just a little over three months to go until kickoff and the NFL draft taking place two weeks ago, football fans nationwide are starting to get pumped again as teams gear up for another exciting season! Will our team improve from last year? Can we dominate again? How will we stack up against our division rivals? These are just a few questions fans ask themselves in the off season each year, anticipating what’s to come. It’s a chance for new hope for those teams who didn’t deliver and a continued optimism for those that performed well, eager to continue the streak in the upcoming season.

After the excitement of the 2012-13 NFL season, last year, a season that was dominated by losses and plagued by injuries, was an unfavorable one for the Atlanta Falcons who went just 4-12. Falcons fans also had to face the reality that it was in fact Tony Gonzalez’s final season.

General Manager, Thomas Dimitroff, made some moves in free agency including the addition of Devin Hester, WR; Dwight Lowry, S; and John Wilson, CB. There was a lot of speculation that the Falcons would trade up from their No. 6 pick in this year’s draft in order to get Jadeveon Clowney, DE out of South Carolina, who would be an asset to any squad. The Falcons chose to stay at No. 6 and selected offensive tackle Jake Matthews from Texas A&M, a selection widely praised by football analysts and fans across the nation. Additional draft picks by the Falcons included: Devonta Freeman, RB; Marquis Spruill, LB; Dezmen Southward, S; Prince Shembo, LB; Ricardo Allen, CB; Yawin Smallwood, LB; Ra’Shede Hageman, DT and Tyler Starr, LB.

Wide receiver Roddy White has one year remaining on his current contract and after suffering a season-ending foot injury last year, wide receiver Julio Jones is gearing up for next season. The Falcons report Jones is progressing well in his recovery and the team appears to be confident as they recently exercised their 2015 contract option on him.

Dimitroff and head coach, Mike Smith, certainly have their work cut out for the 2014-2015 season with “rebuilding” as the primary goal. With a game in London next year, games against opponents such as the Steelers, Ravens and Packers, and a state-of-the-art stadium just a few seasons away, there is major anticipation in Hotlanta about the Dirty Birds right now. It’s time to Rise Up!

I wish the Muppet Show was still on TV!

Growing up the Kid always liked watching the Muppet Show, today I spent far too much time on YouTube. The following are 5 of the better Muppet clips that I watched.

1.) Timing is everything with Animal and Pepe the King Prawn. I bet you forgot that there was a King Prawn muppet. Animal was always one of my favorites.

2.) The Muppets signing Bohemian Rhapsody, they sing it almost as good as Queen.

3.) Beaker signing Feelings. The Kid used to be able to play Feelings on the Organ. Now that is a story for another day.

4.) The Muppets signing Danny Boy. Animal has a nice solo!

5.) Last but not least is a compilation of Statler and Waldorf, these guys always made my day.

WHAM! BAM! POW! Holy strawberries Batman!

WHAM! BAM! POW! Holy strawberries Batman! We're in a jam!  When the Kid was growing up we only had 9 TV channels. One of the shows that was always on was reruns of the Batman TV show. I always looked forward to the fight scenes, which were always in slow motion. In case you were curious the show only ran for three seasons, from 1966 to 1968, for a total of 120 episodes.

The Incredible Hulk

The Kid finally watched the Avengers movie. I know, I'm a little late in watching it. I thought that The Hulk made the movie. It's probably because when the Kid was growing up I used to watch the Incredible Hulk TV show, Lou Ferrigno was huge! Did you know that Lou won two Mr. Universe titles.

Never ruin another purse again

Are you always wondering what to do with your purse when you go to a restaurant? Do you put it on the floor and risk ruining the bottom of your purse and having it inadvertently kicked by you or your other dining companions while you eat? You could hang your purse on your chair, but chances are, it will slip off, or a slick criminal could make off with your wallet!

The solution: a Purse Hanger. This fashionable and functional item fits neatly inside your bag. When you reach your destination, simply place the decorative disc on a flat surface and uncoil the hook to hang your purse!

Purse hangers are perfect when you are out and about – at the office or school, restaurants or bars. Anywhere you are, you will want your purse hanger with you.

Never ruin another purse by putting it on the floor!

Are you ready for some Football!

Training camp has started for the 2013 season. It’s only a matter of time now! When the Kid was growing up the Dallas Cowboys were his team. I always liked Randy White, probably because I was a tackle. In case you were curious Randy White was elected to the Football Hall of Fame in 1994.
